Clay Tree Society for People with Developmental Disabilities - Life Skills

Having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everyday life. Not only does it allow for group collaboration and the ability to self-manage when problem solving, it provides an opportunity to work as a team which enhances the benefits of employability.

The Clay Tree Life Skills Interest Group offers a new approach to skill development.  Participants attending the course receive the necessary training that can lead to volunteer positions or paid employment. Topics of instruction include food production and preservation with an emphasis on healthy eating and preparing daily meals. We demonstrate how readily available devices or gadgets can be utilized to allow for success in the kitchen. Other areas of focus incorporate housekeeping, laundry, shopping skills, money management, rent, utilities and manners.
